Things to remember...
Adopting a pet is an important decision that will affect the entire family. Any pet that you are considering making part of your family - whether it is from an animal shelter or from a rescue organization - is no longer in the place that he/she called home. This transition time is a very stressful time for any pet. They are in unfamiliar surroundings with people that they do not know. Some animals adjust very quickly. For some, it might take as long as 4 to 6 weeks to adjust to their new surroundings. In any case, we are looking for people who are willing to make a lifelong commitment to our dogs and cats. Please consider adoption very carefully. Be sure to talk it over with every member of your family. Please remember that a surprise pet does not make a good gift. A pet can be a 10+ year commitment. Make sure that every member of the family is prepared for a new pet and to make such a commitment.
