Mary is a stunning Great Pyrenees mix with a heart full of love - and a story that will melt yours.

When Mary and her littermates first came to us, they were ferile, frightened and hurting, with scratches and sores that needed care. Human touch felt scary, and trust felt impossible. Mary, in particular, held her heart close.

But that was then.

With patience, gentleness, and a whole lot of encouragement, Mary has blossomed into something truly beautiful. She accepts treats, enjoys pets, walks nicely on leash, rides in cars, and meets new people with growing confidence. She's moved into foster care, where she's thriving alongside other dogs - including a bold little Chihuahua who doesn't let anyone forget he's in charge. Mary is wonderful with other dogs-- interested and curious, but conflict-avoidant and submissive. Given her gentle nature, she will fit into households with older, gentle children and probably cats (though will need to meet animals/people to be sure it's a good fit).

Mary carries herself with the calm, watchful dignity that is so characteristic of her breed - the quiet confidence of a dog who takes her role as gentle guardian seriously. She has a serene, steady presence that puts other animals at ease, and it's clear this is simply who she is at her core.

She's also making wonderful progress with housetraining - doing great going outside and learning more every day. Like everything else in Mary's journey, she's tackling it one step at a time, and she's getting there.

Mary loves toys, tough chews like antlers, going on walks, and - her absolute favorite - snuggling. At night, she curls up beside her foster mom with the sweetest, softest energy you can imagine. For a girl who once wouldn't leave her kennel, that's nothing short of a miracle.

She's still a shy soul, and she'll need an adopter who understands that trust is something you earn together, one gentle moment at a time. But here's what her foster family already knows: once Mary decides you're her person, the love she gives back is pure and boundless.

Mary requires a fenced yard and a confident canine companion in the home.

If you have patience, empathy, and a warm spot on the couch and are looking for loyal loving companion - Mary has been waiting for you. 🤍
