Grace

Grace's story began as a stray roaming the countryside outside of Waukee, spending over a week on her own before finally being brought to safety. While she's grateful to be cared for, the experience left her feeling unsure of the world around her, and she's looking for a patient family that will help her build confidence at her own pace.

This sweet girl is naturally nervous and would thrive in a calm, quieter home without a lot of commotion. Once she trusts you, though, Grace's affectionate side shines through. She's a total cuddle bug who wants nothing more than to be right by your side, or even better, curled up in your lap soaking up all the love and attention she can get.

Grace can walk on a leash, but the outside world can still feel overwhelming to her, so she tends to pull when she's feeling anxious. Because of this, a securely fenced yard would be ideal. One thing that always brings out her happy side is running, especially when she has canine friends to play with!

We've been able to test Grace with other dogs and have found that she can be dog-selective, meaning she'll need the right companion if there are other pets in the home. A meet and greet with all human and furry family members will be required to make sure everyone is a good fit.

Grace has quickly won the hearts of many of our volunteers with her gentle nature and love of affection. She's looking for a family willing to give her the time, patience, and understanding she needs to feel safe and secure.
